Something Old, Something New

When I first watched the Cazals video for ‘Somebody Somewhere’ directed by Parisian artist André, I immediately fell in love with how light hearted, simple and cute it was.
Recently, André has teamed up with Japans’ Medicom Toys again to produce 100% and 400% sizes of Monsieur A. The Kubrick comes in two colorways: black and hot pink. Definitely something I wouldn’t mind having in my collection <3

“Always on the Grind” Carhartt Europe Shirts

I saw this tee a couple weeks back and forgot to mention it. Benny Gold teamed up with Carhartt Europe  to release the “always on the grind” tee which also happens to be the opener for the t-shirt section in their catalog. Nice work Benny- we approve!

Nick Z “Don’t Hassle Me I’m Local” Show

This past Saturday, our good friend Nick Z had his opening at the Fourth Wall Project in Boston. You can check out some pictures of the event here as well as the installation process here. An Oldie, But Still a Goodie

I dont know how I forgot to post about this, I guess my life has been insane! A little while ago my good friend Jeff did a piece about my Dad’s museum in Maine that got featured on highsnob.com. It was the first in depth look at the space by an outsider- check out the full post here and some pictures below.

Gunsho takes over Boston.

For the past week I have gotten the pleasure of having James aka “Gunsho” paint 25 ft of windows at my shop. The piece that most artists spend 6 to 10 hours painting, took him right around 22 hours. Not only did he spend five days painting, he also had a 2 hour commute every day he came here. I can honestly say James is a part of the LAB family now. The time and devotion he put into painting the front of our shop is just incredible. The black outline alone was 3 days of painting and another 2 days for color. I’m so grateful for all of his hard work and effort, and hope everyone can check it out before it comes down. Click here for more pictures of the piece. Oh… and one last thing- this was the biggest piece he had ever done- his forty is 18×24″ drawings- no paint!

I woke up this morning with these amazing new prints by Zack Johnsen in my inbox! The Bored Meeting and Tantrum prints are Zack’s newest pieces to be released. Both are 5 color silkscreen prints on natural art paper size 12″x36″ and are editions of 100 signed and numbered. You can get them here for $65 each or $110 for both.

Andrew Bell’s O-No.. nom nom nom

I just found these amazing new toys designed by Andrew Bell. There will be two versions of the sushi, first one in blue will be released at Comic-Con, an edition of 150, for $30.00 a set. For the people like me that will not be able to attend Comic Con this year can get the standard red edition on-line and off in early August for $25.00.

Ok… I have a lot of apologizing to do, the month of June was probably one of the most insane months of my life. My business partner and I decided after 3+ years that we were going to close our brick & mortar shop and keep our online shop up and running! To keep the long story short, the decision came after a lot of thinking, and also the opportunity to move into a 4,400 sq ft art & design studio in Union Square. I will release more details about the space soon. All I can say is the excitement of this move and working with this caliber people has kept me up at night, and doesnt let me stop day dreaming. So, back to realty for now after this week I will be back to posting daily, and so sorry to all the people that have sent me stuff to post!

Usugrow in London

Born in Fukushima Japan, Usugrow has been a long time favorite of mine for quite awhile, best known for his fluid letterform and affinity for rendering skulls. Although I wont be able to personally see his new work, if you happen to be in London on July 23rd, you should check out Stolenspace Gallery for the group show “Shinganist” which include new works by Usugrow along with four other Japanese artists.

“Usugrow, Mozyskey, Toshikazu Nozaka, Bene and Jun Kaneko will be taking over the walls of the gallery with stunning new works on canvas, paper, wood and felt. The artists straddle the fine line of street art, skate and tattoo culture, while simultaneously drawing inspiration from centuries of traditional Japanese imagery.
The show coincides with the release of the book ‘Shinganist’ published by Shingan Art Publishing inc. with Usugrow and his fellow artists from Japan coming to StolenSpace on their world tour.”
