Tonight! So much to do!!!

It’s finally here! Died Young, Stayed Pretty movie, peels back the paper curtain and looks behind the scenes of the underground poster movement. These graphic banditos roam the streets, plastering their work to every available surface. Under the guise of advertising rock shows, these unheralded masters of the silkscreen and xerox machine carry on public discourses on the merits and pitfalls of fried cheese and gritty porn. The film will be shown at the MFA in Boston tonight at 8:10pm- tickets for members, seniors, students $8; general admission $10.

Also, tonight check out the NACC09 Art Show at the Fourth Wall Project. The show featuring work by cycle couriers from all over North America will featured until 10pm tonight.

A Day At The Studio with Rem

Today, Kim was asked to dog-sit for her friend. As I’m sitting at the studio waiting for her return, in comes the most adorable pitbull. Yeah, i’m sure you’re all like: “what? a pitbull?! cute?!”. Didn’t think cute and pitbull could ever be a synonymous pair eh?
Well, Remi is just about the most obedient and adorable one year old pup out there and i’m pretty sure we’ve all fallen in love with him. After a nice walk around a water fountain park, the three of us have just been working and mellowing out on this super hot day.
If only you could see Rem and his goofy, slobbering self in all his wonderful ball licking glory.

“Preemptive Strike” by Jessica Hess

I’ve always been a fan of Jessica Hess’s work and have even curated a show with her. Known for her amazing landscape oil paintings on canvas, I was surprised when I saw this project she posted up. The new work is called “Preemptive Strike” its a combination of bees, pins and thread- deadly yet beautiful.

Мишка Presents: “Cursed Scrolls” Tonight!

Mishka recently teamed up with artist Richard “French” Sayer to design three new shirts for their line. French’s usage of twisted, ghoulish images, plus an undying love for everything metal, made the partnership an inevitable one for Mishka.

Hailing from Aldershot, Hampshire in the UK, French is known for his extremely detailed line work of ghastly, mutated creatures. Having done projects for numerous skateboard companies – Zero, Creature and Real to name a few – as well as a handful of record sleeves, French is now bringing his unique designs to Mishka and blessing us west of the pond with not only his shirts but an art show featuring a selection of works. This will mark the very first of many art shows to be housed under the 350 Broadway roof.

French’s latest shirt design for Mishka drops TODAY at the Cursed Scrolls art show at Mishka’s flagship store 350 Broadway in Brooklyn. The show is from 7-10pm tonight will also run for the next 6 weeks in case you can’t check it out tonight.
