The OriginalFake sticker pack comes in five of KAWS’ newest designs and can be bought at OriginalFake dealers, like Colette.

In other news, coming up on Monday January 26th, is the official first-day for the start of the New Year according to the Chinese Lunar calendar. This new year will be the year of the Ox. Many companies have already released new designs to commemerate the holiday, like Nike, Reebok and Puma to name a few. I particularly liked the packaging idea from Nike x CLOT for their Air Force 1 collaboration. Nike candy box

The boxes resemble Chinese New Year candy boxes, which would typically be filled with gold foiled chocolate coins, melon seeds, candied melons and other good treats (I grew up loving this white candy that had a toffee-like consistency. The wrapper dissolved too. They were so cool hahah). If you haven’t seen a chinese new year celebration before, you should try to head down to Chinatown sometime to check it out. Usually (and i’m speaking for Bostons’ Chinatown here), the local lion dance troupes would go from store to store to celebrate the new year with the traditional lion costumes and firecrackers would be exploding all over the place. In belief, the firecrackers are intended to scare away bad spirits. I dont know, Chinese people are really superstitious. We’re not allowed to wash our hair on the day of the New Year because it’s believed that it will wash away good luck, and we’re not suppose to clean our house the day of either for the same idea.
Anyways, thats that for the little bit of culture sharing!
